Information regarding densified wood pellet fuel composition is important to those who use it. Maine Energy Systems is working with the Maine Pellet Fuels Association and the University of Maine to regularly test samples of wood pellets available for bulk delivery in Maine.
Maine Energy Systems selects high-quality wood pellets from among regionally available fuels for distribution to its bulk wood pellet customers. Prior to delivery to customers' storage units, Maine Energy Systems tests each load of wood pellets to ensure that they don't show evidence of bark or contaminents that will lead to combustion by-products that impede the operation. Many of the elemental measurements shown in these reports are important in pellet selection, as the Europeans discovered a long time ago.
These tests are expensive, so we will only commission them quarterly at this point. Seasonal variation in wood pellet production may show in that testing.
